Joining the Bible Gateway team (sharing the love)

Yesterday’s post (Are Men Interested in Bible Study?) provoked an extensive and generally helpful response – mostly via email. Among the highlights was an invitation to join the “Blogger Grid” at Bible Gateway.

Accepting the invitation was a no-brainer for me. I’ve utilized Bible-Gateway’s exceptional resources for several years. There’s no other site where I can read such a variety of translations and access so many helpful tools for research.

SHARING THE LOVE: This is going to be a mutually beneficial arrangement. The association should expose me to more readers, extending the potential reach of my posts – while in return my “Bible Gateway Blogger Grid Member” badge will link my readers to their network. Additionally, I’ll be linking to BibleGateway.com through my scripture references; it’s something I’m happy to do because I’m already a fan of the site.

God’s Word is more than just a priority for me – it’s the very ground I stand on. In fact, it’s how I started my day today, along with some of the guys in one of the Saturday morning covenant groups at WFPC.

JAVA & JESUS: Our time together always begins well because my friend Dan not only makes coffee, he brings along his grinder and does it right. So my Saturdays always launch with prayer, God’s good word, encouragement and accountability from the guys, and a primo mug of great coffee. Am I ever blessed or what?

Today our focus was Colossians 3:1-17. The conversation was rich, encouraging, and wide-ranging, but the chief “take-away” was most definitely this gem – “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly…” (16a)

Or, as Dan put it, “the idea is to let Jesus get into your head.”

If there’s one way I can be sure of letting Jesus get into my head it’s via the unparalleled inspiration and nourishment that is God’s Word. Talk with God in prayer, listen to God in prayer, and let the word of Christ dwell in you richly.

web_13Like I said, linking to BibleGateway.com is a no-brainer.

Because of life, overflowing with gratitude, steeped in faith, and in the light of promise – DEREK

(I may post again later today, reflecting on some of the great conversation that has come out of the men and Bible-study post from Friday.)

  1. Thank you for this post. These are some very good tips. I think bible study is incredibly important and some how God speaks to us more audibly the more we do this. Thank you for the work you are doing for His kingdom.
