It’s Sunday morning. As per usual, I’m all jazzed up about going to WFPC.

I love everything about church: the worship; music, the throng of good people; the message; the time of deep conversation and challenge in Sunday-school; the intimacy of the shared journey; the intentional, focused time in the presence of God.

I’m thinking, too, about how critically important Sunday morning is for balance in our lives. This morning I received a note from a reader/friend who wrote that she is thinking she should have the scripture from yesterday’s post – Just chill out and enjoy life – tattooed on her forearm.

But isn’t that what life in the faith community is for? Reminding one-another of the beauty of holiness, and encouraging our brothers and sisters along the way?

“It is a wonderful scripture,” I wrote in reply. “I think there’s a reason Jesus asked us to filter the entire law through ‘love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, all your mind, and all your strength.The second is equally important: Love your neighbor as yourself. No other commandment is greater than these.’” – Mark 12:30-31

“Not to make us guilty,” I added; “but to make us free.”
