living evidence of the beauty of the Good News #memeoftheweek

Therefore I, a prisoner for serving the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of your calling, for you have been called by God. Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love.  Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace. For there is one body and one Spirit, just as you have been called to one glorious hope for the future.

There is one Lord, one faith, one baptism,
one God and Father of all,
who is over all, in all, and living through all. – Eph 4:1-6

IMG_2845-003IT’S A WRAP: Wow, what a week it was! Six days of grandkids at Maul-Hall, five of them without their parents. Yes, I know I’ve been posting a lot of “grandaddy stuff;” but – as I have pointed out almost every day – I have been learning so much from my grandchildren, their wide-open spirits, and their natural, contagious, enthusiasm for life.

Saturday lunch time we drove to the Cracker Barrel (halfway-to-Richmond) meeting point, and David and Beks went home with their parents. All that enthusiasm may have exhausted us, but it was still tough to see them go.

So today’s Meme of the Week highlights one of the significant “take aways” David and Beks have left me with. I am challenged – as Paul wrote to the church in Ephesus – to “lead a life worthy of my calling.”

OUR CALLING: Our calling – and I believe this with all of my heart – is to live in such a way that the beauty of the Good News of Jesus is evident in and through the way that we live the Gospel out loud.

It’s a message I pray that we all take to heart – DEREK
