The tomb is still empty (and our hearts are full!)

After he took his seat at the table with them, [Jesus] took the bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them. Their eyes were opened and they recognized him, but he disappeared from their sight. They said to each other, “Weren’t our hearts on fire when he spoke to us along the road and when he explained the scriptures for us?” – Luke 24:30-32

Just in case there is any question, let me point out the following:

It is still Easter!
The tomb is still empty!
Christ is still risen!
Everything that was set in motion when Jesus cracked open the seal of death and redefined life is still, very much, alive and well!

But what an unusual Easter Sunday Experience this was! Some things were the same, like the fact that people “showed up” for church in droves, and the feeling that the sanctuary at WFPC had this electric hum to it, a buzz of life like an overload of voltage coursing through the building, this undeniable sense of “The Resurrection is Real!!!”

Oh, and we had some technical difficulties too! It wouldn’t be church without a little of that! Although I have to say this new expertise and equipment our tech ministry team invested in has taken the “production” quality of our online worship to a level that is not only critically important now, it’s going to change everything about our live streaming once “on-campus” worship gets going again.

So Easter Sunday our sanctuary was crowded out (hahaha) with a total of six people leading worship. Kim and David Newton’s musical offering – after the sermon – was a phenomenal testimony to life and the power of Easter. And the message Rebekah brought managed to link the events surrounding the Resurrection with our lives today in a fresh and compelling way.

This is the point of today’s post:

A) To encourage us all to live the resurrection life with the firm conviction that Jesus has filled us and will continue to fill us with light, life, grace, mercy, and promise.
