For 2021, let’s plan to do Lent right (an invitation)

– author Derek Maul in the Holy Lands

Hello everyone! Believe it or not, the next big thing on the Christian calendar is Lent. That’s right, February 16 is Shrove Tuesday, and February 17 will be Ash Wednesday, the first day of Lent.

If anything, these Covid protocols that keep us separate from one-another make the choice to observe and to practice faith where and when we can even more valuable, and holy.

We miss gathering in person so much that gathering virtually becomes a powerful commitment to community. Live-feed Sunday morning worship; Bible-study via Zoom; small group meetings on line.

Then, and this is a practical and inspirational idea, going through a devotional experience together, day by day, with the help of a guide.

Reaching Toward Easter” is my own collection of stories, meditations, life-experiences, prayers, and questions for reflection. The print edition is on sale right now for just $7.99 (at Upper Room Books) and I believe that is a value/opportunity you can’t pass up.

Let me add this as an incentive. I will be posting a companion series during Lent, including a weekly video, so the experience will be more interactive.

Please join me. And, if we overwhelm the publisher with interest… maybe they will be motivated to accept my newest proposal?

Any devotional journey we take “toward Easter” during Lent will be a valuable spiritual investment; together will be even better.

I hope to see you along the way – DEREK
