Photo Friday Brings the Sunshine! (plus a little nostalgia…)

“But ask the animals, and they will teach you,
    or the birds in the sky, and they will tell you;
or speak to the earth, and it will teach you,
    or let the fish in the sea inform you.
Which of all these does not know
    that the hand of the Lord has done this?
10 In his hand is the life of every creature
    and the breath of all mankind.” – Job 12:7-10

Photo Friday is not so easy when I haven’t been taking that many pictures! I’m not sure what it is – maybe the cold – but this week my camera is pretty much empty.

The only serious lens work I tried was for our passport pictures. Rebekah is so photogenic, hers were easy – two clicks and, bingo, perfection. Me, not so much. But, you work with what you have.

Fortunately, Naomi keeps me well-supplied, and Thursday was a perfect play on the beach in Miami day. Then there is good food and – always willing to help out in a pinch – Max let me take his mug shot in case I was running short.

Finally, today this final image popped up on my feed and I have to include it. It was taken – probably by Rebekah – during the epic family vacation where we drove 8,800 miles in three weeks. We took the trusty minivan all the way from Tampa, visiting so many national parks I can hardly count.

This picture is from the Grand Canyon (circa 1998) during the three days we spent with Rebekah’s sister Rachel’s family, visiting the canyon, Flagstaff, and the Painted Desert together. Every day was amazing but I think the definitive experience was all nine of us taking a dawn hot-air balloon ride through the Red Rock Canyon at Sedona, landing at a scenic location for breakfast.

Then the McMahans drove south, and we headed into Utah.

Wow! That was invigorating (and a little exhausting) just thinking about it!

So enjoy, and have a weekend filled up to overflowing with peace, love, grace, and blessings – DEREK
