A few days ago, when we were walking through the park with Max, Rebekah suggested I consider launching a website that featured the best of my photography.
And, no, this wasn’t her way of saying, “I want to skip all that boring writing and just look at your pics!”
What she was getting at is the fact that, quite often, some really great photographs get lost in the noise of a busy website.
Rebekah always has great ideas. So today, instead of writing, I have spent several hours messing around with what a blog might look like if I featured photos and nothing else.
What I have come up with – so far, there’s a lot of tweaking to be done – is this. An introduction, an explanation, and then 6 content areas.
The best of the best of the best…
The idea is to plug photographs (only the best) one at a time into the six areas so people – that’s you – can browse according to interest. The newest images should – theoretically – always come up first. I may add a couple more categories, but I don’t want the page to get too busy. I’m not sure.
Later, I’m going to take a look at what it might take to set up a “shop” and let people purchase an image if that’s what they want to do.
So take a look, please, and let me know what you think. Regardless, it’s going to be fun to focus more, as it were, on the photography.
I will still be writing here, almost every day, at derekmaul.blog. But, little by little, I’ll be dropping the best photographs in the new site.
