Simply put, friends, we need to love and trust God, and we need to love and trust one another. Neither of which requires your candidate – or anyone else’s – to win this election!
If you can’t have open, honest conversations in your faith community, because there’s a sense at your church that “real Christians” should all vote for “Candidate X,” or all think in lockstep, then we have lost the essential defining characteristic of our “Great Experiment” as America.
no matter how things turn out November 8, election day will quickly be followed by Thanksgiving, and soon thereafter we get to enjoy the light and beauty of Christmas!
It’s not middle ground we need, but new ground.
So come to church. And then go back into this crazy world with your light shining brightly, with purpose and integrity – DERE
…it is quite possible to disagree in politics, be at odds vis-a-vis social issues, and take communion together at the same church; in fact I see it here at WFPC every week.
