News, Inspiration, and Reflection

cropped-dsc_0009.jpgIf it’s Thursday, then it must be “Send People to Wake Forest Today Day.” I’ve been redirecting you to my weekly column in the local news magazine for a couple of months now, and I’d always value your feedback.

Today I tell the story of my parents’ move, and the providential series of events that worked together to bring them here. I called the column, “Breaking in the New Neighbors.” I think you’ll enjoy it a lot. And – we’re asking for your help here – please share the link with your friends.

Next – below – I’m re-posting a recent “Daily Reflection” from The Upper Room. It’s an excerpt from Reaching Toward Easter that I’m sure you will find challenging.

Guided into Truth

Today’s Reflection

IF WE ARE GUIDED into truth, then we are guided into Christ. If we’re looking for an encounter with God, and in so doing become transformed, more and more like Jesus, then we really are walking in the truth, walking in the light, and walking in the will of God.

I’m not convinced that God worries about the details we tend to get so bent out of shape about. I’m not sure that God is interested in telling us what town we should live in, the career path we should choose, or even what particular person we should marry. I’m more inclined to believe that God is more interested in being with us – period. Regardless of whatever circumstance we get wrapped up in, God wants faithful disciples who will live according to the law of love. That’s how we become more like Jesus, transformed into the likeness of the Son. That’s how we’re going to follow more nearly.

Prayer: “Day by day, dear Lord, of you three things I pray: to see you more clearly, love you more dearly, follow you more nearly, day by day.” (Richard of Chichester)
