renewing my commitment to the light

For once you were darkness, but now in the Lord you are light. Live as children of light— for the fruit of the light is found in all that is good and right and true. Try to find out what is pleasing to the Lord. – Ephesians 5:8-10

IMG_5138I know I promised to back off the kitchen photos until the project has been completed.

However, I’m going to have to share the image I captured yesterday. I was looking to document this stage of the process, but ended up illustrating something else entirely.

When I went downstairs around 6:45 to walk Scout I didn’t have photography on my mind. But something about the pre-dawn light caught my attention.

The emerging light made the kitchen look cool, certainly, but more than that it reminded me of my daily commitment to live forward, intentionally meeting the new day as a child of the light.

I’ve shared this before, but it bears repeating. Every day, when I return from my walk with Scout Labradoodle, I walk around the house to pull up the shades and open the blinds. What I’m doing, consciously and at the front of my mind, is to “Purposefully renew my commitment to the light.”

What I’m doing, consciously and at the front of my mind, is to “Purposefully renew my commitment to the light.”

There it is. A simple thought to orient all of us to the light.

For once you were darkness, but now in the Lord you are light. Live as children of light— for the fruit of the light is found in all that is good and right and true.
