(Note, the “very character(s) of God” would either be much more than 140, or just the 5 J-E-S-U-S…)

TWEETABLE: Last year I was invited to be a “Contributing Blogger” at the Bible Gateway Blogger Grid. The badge adds a little Bible-cred to my site, there’s a link to this blog on their network, and the only quid pro quo is me remembering to link back to Bible Gateway when I quote scripture.

So this morning I’ll acknowledge Bible Gateway’s “verse of the day” as my source for the scripture quoted above (although, interestingly, the passage also popped up in our daily Upper Room meditation at breakfast).

The reference caught me off-guard (as God’s word often does), because I read it directly after thinking, “I wonder what I can write that is so pithy, deep, profound, and tweetable that people’s lives are encouraged, blessed, and transformed…?”

So immediately, just to underline the obvious, God steers me to just such a scripture. “If you’re not quite up to it, Derek,” God points out, “I have some nice stuff in Hebrews you could use…”

Touché. Okay, God, good point.

I also appreciate the translation in the Common English Bible (CEB): “The Son is the light of God’s glory and the imprint of God’s being. He maintains everything with his powerful message…”

CARRY THE LIGHT: I like the expression, “The light of God’s glory and the imprint of God’s being.” This actually turns out to be part of the package when it comes to being an active follower of the Living Way of Jesus. We are invited to be the presence of Christ in this world, and in particular in the immediate vicinity of our individual lives – at home, in the workplace, out and about in the community, and where we gather to worship.

God not only acknowledged by us, but God in us; God’s light; God’s love.

You, carrying the imprint of God’s being.
