For the Beauty of the Earth

It’s another beautiful Saturday here in Wake Forest. I’ve had this song floating around in my head – my spirit really – most of the morning. John Rutter’s “For the Beauty of the Earth.”

For the beauty of the earth
For the beauty of the skies
For the love which from our birth
Over and around us lies
Over and around us lies
Lord of all, to thee we raise
This our joyful hymn of praise

1-IMG_2279It is – in my spirit – that kind of a morning. But there are lots of details to attend to, so I’m simply going to share a series of random images from the past few days.

  • The grandchildren, so excited to share their Halloween costumes. David (at five he’s already a serious Star Wars fan) makes a compelling Darth Vadar. Then Beks is possibly the cutest SuperGirl ever.
  • Last night, walking Scout Labradoodle, the full moon reminded me of how magnificent it is when we are able to reflect the light of the son. Our conversation in this morning’s men’s group meeting was around prayer, and this image reminds me of how God speaks to me – constantly – if only I pay attention.
  • Then there’s been some unbelievably good cooking going on in my kitchen. Good food is always something to celebrate.
  • I can’t help but mention the thrill of finally publishing my first novel. You simply have to get a copy and share it with all your friends! I’m confident you will enjoy the read.
  • Then the final photo, caught in the reflection from the storm door while I was tying my shoelaces. It reminds me that my existence is ephemeral yet at the same time not short-lived.

Have a great Saturday. Enjoy the photos, purchase my novel, and watch this space for more. Peace – DEREK
