Even to your old age and gray hairs
I am he, I am he who will sustain you.
I have made you and I will carry you;
I will sustain you and I will rescue you. – Isaiah 46:4
Three hundred sixty-one days a year, I am a (professional) writer who enjoys taking photographs. Four times a year I get to be a (professional) photographer who enjoys writing about his pictures.
One such occasion is the Presbytery of New Hope’s annual “Service of Recognition for Outstanding Older Adults.” Every year around fifty seniors are honored for their invaluable and irreplaceable service to the ministry of the church.
It is truly inspiring to listen to the short citations for each recipient The bios – beautifully crafted by Rev. Bob Inskeep – are read from the front while the honoree in question stands. The certificates are then presented by one of the local youth.
A complete slideshow will soon be available via the Presbytery website, but for today’s post, I’m sharing a sampling of the best pictures.
As you enjoy the images, take a moment to imagine how such a citation would read if it were written about you, and your contribution to the work of the local church? Of course, not a single one of this year’s older adults had recognition in mind when they gave, and gave, and gave; but it’s a good question to think about: “What does my life as a disciple say about the Good News? Is it a story that will inspire others?”
