a simple request for prayer…

1-IMG_3617This post is simple. Today I am spending four and a half hours in Southern Pines – not playing golf but at a retreat with 30-35 men from a dozen or so churches in Coastal Carolina Presbytery.

The day – billed as “An Invitation to Make a Difference as 21st-Century Presbyterian Men” – is also a workshop designed to both inspire and equip men to be more proactive as leaders, inviting other men to know and serve Jesus with more deliberation and passion.

I’d like you to pray for this initiative. Think about the impact of several hundred, or several thousand people all praying for these guys and for their church communities as they respond to the challenge!

Here’s the blurb for the flyer:

Join author Derek Maul for a day-retreat designed to inspire, to build community, and to encourage men of all ages to live as more deliberate disciples. “Regardless of church size,” Maul writes, “when men meet together for prayer and Bible-study there will be growth. Authentic life by definition replicates itself. When men encourage one another in faith we are stronger, our families are stronger, our witness is stronger, our church is stronger.

I don’t know about you, but I sure want to go!

I will let you know how the day goes. In the meanwhile, I am counting on you to pray.

In love, and because of love – DEREK
