6 more teens stand up for Jesus!

Therefore, go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey everything that I’ve commanded you. Look, I myself will be with you every day until the end of this present age.” – Matthew 28:19-21

Wow! What an amazing Sunday morning. I will likely have to post twice.

Just a couple of weeks ago I wrote about seventeen of our 8th-graders who were confirmed after several months of preparation (17 teens say “yes” to Jesus). Today it was six high school students who asked if they, too, could make a public commitment. Two came by profession of faith and four by baptism.

What’s especially cool about today’s group is how they came to their youth leaders and asked for this:

  • “We want to go deeper in our faith.”
  • “We want to follow Jesus.”
  • “We want to be baptized.”
  • “We want to be confirmed.”
  • “We want to join this church.”
  • “We want to be more committed to discipleship and mission.”

And, as 9:00 is the service most young people typically attend, this time it was the early crowd’s turn to experience all the excitement and the joy.

What could be more encouraging? The CLC full with people of all ages. Lots of excitement. Tons of teens cheering their friends on. Communion. Great music. Enthusiasm. Commitment. Baptism (with lots of water!). Great preaching (more about that in my next post).

This is a broken world, defined by so much anger, cynicism, and strife. In face of all this – maybe because of all this – six more teens at WFPC have made a public commitment to follow Jesus.

It doesn’t get much better than this! – DEREK
