Light and darkness, storms and calm, sunshine and rain…

– Typical April morning in Wake Forest

April Showers….

– writer Derek Maul

This morning several thunderstorms rolled through Wake Forest before dawn. When I woke the sun poured brilliant light over the horizon as the clouds continued to move to the west. Then, while I was walking Max (photos above and below), the forecast promised more rain before breakfast but it all disappeared and blue skies are expected for the balance of the day.

It is now 8:00, and all of April has already passed over and around me in the space of an hour or so. It promises to be that kind of a day.

If our experience in life is a lot like April – mercurial, sunshine and rain, storms and then calm – then it is important to make sure we are anchored in something that is true and constant. For me, this is what faith is, my ongoing relationship with God and experience of grace.

This passage came to mind. It is going to be a stormy, sunshine soaked, rainy, clear day. So this is where I am resting:

This is the message we heard from Jesus and now declare to you: God is light, and there is no darkness in him at all. So we are lying if we say we have fellowship with God but go on living in spiritual darkness; we are not practicing the truth. But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, cleanses us from all sin.

1 John 1:5-8

That’s all I have for this morning! If I have a chance, I will fill you in on details later. In the meanwhile, your prayers are valued – DEREK
