It helps that today is a Sunday. January 1, first day of a new year, starting the trajectory of 2023 by going to church.

Not just worship but a communion Sunday. How good is that!

And this is my simple, essential, foundational message for today: Follow Jesus. Work out what it means to be an intentional disciple in the context of a church community. Life is hard; we need one another; church is the place to be.

So this is my prayer, my anchor intention for 2023:

Day by day, day by day,
O, dear Lord, three things I pray:
to see thee more clearly, love thee more dearly,
follow thee more nearly, day by day.
