Celebrating FaceTime, Family, and Food (@photofriday)

For the beauty of the earth
For the glory of the skies
For the love which from our birth
Over and around us lies
Over and around us lies

‘Lord of all, to Thee we raise
This our joyful hymn of praise

Photo Friday (images that have not made it into previous posts this week) is in three categories today. “Facetime”… “My Mother”… and “The Food Story.”

I love technology!

First, of all the technologies developed over the past couple of decades I am most appreciative of FaceTime. With children and grandchildren in Orlando and Bahrain, the ability to talk, face-to-face, is priceless.

Geoffrey, now 26 moths, is the perfect age for this. He not only engages with the video interaction, he anticipates. That’s what is going on in this wonderful photograph. Naomi grabbed the screenshoot when Geoffrey wanted to talk with grandmama. Rebekah was not able to answer, so Naomi threw her mama under the bus on FaceBook!

You’d better believe she called instantly when she saw the post!

The other screenshot is from my conversation with Naomi (and Geoffrey) while walking through downtown Wake Forest this morning. Gotta love this wonderful community on a beautiful day like today.

Grandma Grace:

It’s been a year since my mum had cataract surgery so it was back to the optician to fine-tune the prescription lenses.

I am always fascinated with what I observe, and learn. I love this photo because it tells the story, both of the complexity of sight and the very personal care offered by the doctors at Heritage Eye.

The other image, taken this morning, just demonstrates how absolutely HUGE Max is as compared to my mother. But they sure do love one another.

Food and more:

Just a few more examples from Rebekah’s kitchen initiative. We are eating very well at the same time as choosing foods that are not only innovative but healthy too.

The turkey burger yesterday was exceptional, dinner time’s grilled pork with mango salsa was very tasty, and this morning’s baked ham spinach and ricotta pita pocket was something I had never imagined for breakfast but absolutely enjoyed.

Earlier today a friend said he especially enjoyed some of the video shorts I included in the trip to England last fall. Maybe there will be a way to include a similar feature in the occasional post going forward. Let me know what you think.

Not just on “Photo Friday”, friends, let’s try to keep our eyes open for beauty and wonder every day.

For the beauty of the earth
For the glory of the skies
For the love which from our birth
Over and around us lies
Over and around us lies

‘Lord of all, to Thee we raise
This our joyful hymn of praise.

  1. Absolutely delicious -looking food choices! Amazing! I’m interested to see how long Rebekah will continue and/or what -who—how the new plan will involve.
