A couple of days ago I said my next test run for the new camera should be to document the walk into Wake Forest’s town center.
It’s an enjoyable hike, less than a mile and sidewalks all the way.
First, there is the walk through our Tyler Run neighborhood on up to South Main. Then the walk along South Main. And finally down Elm, across the railroad, and on to White Street and the town center.
What I did was to sling the new Nikon z50 around my neck and take a slow stroll, taking photographs of everything along the way.
The homes in Tyler Run make for a picturesque series of shots. Then South Main, although not so celebrated as the mansions on North Main the other side of town (see “North Main, an essay in photographs“), has a lot of very unique and interesting properties.

Finally, I photograph White Street extensively. Wake Forest has an active and historic downtown with a lot of architectural interest.
The walk back offers some of the same properties but featuring different angles.
Yes, this gallery has a lot of images! But I think it does a great job of capturing the walk from Maul Hall to downtown. This is one of the great North Carolina communities. A slice of classic Americana.
If you want to share with your friends what Wake Forest looks like then you can’t do much better than this.
Regardless, I enjoyed it. I hope you do too.
Peace and blessings – DEREK
