First look at Pittsburgh – through the eyes of friends

– Pittsburgh: the view (Rebekah, Tim, and the kids….)

Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made.

John 1:3
– Rebekah, Tim, Titus, and Vivi

Tuesday Rebekah and I visited our friends Tim and Kelly Black in their beautiful Pittsburgh home.

Tim worked with Rebekah at FPCBrandon for nine years, serving as pastor for mission and discipleship. Along with Kelly – and eventually their children – the Blacks made a hug impact on the ministry there; Together, Rebekah and Tim were a uniquely effective pastoral team.

Today Kelly facilitates discipleship ministry at a large and active United Methodist Church here in Pittsburgh, Tim is working with the family business, and – along with their now four children – they are enjoying the city where Kelly grew up and Tim went to seminary.

Today I simply want to share a few of the spectacular photos I took from “Mt. Washington” (formerly “Coal Hill”) overlooking the metro area. Check out the short video – it’s almost the only way to take it all in.

It’s tough to get a good look at a city while driving through. But from the overlook, taking in the expansive vista miles in both directions, Pittsburgh looked amazing.

If I put together a book of my favorite “overlook” photographs it would have to include Dresden, Jerusalem, Florence, Rome, Folkestone (U.K.), Prague and so many more; and these Pittsburgh views would absolutely have to be among them too.

Thanks for the tour, Tim. And thanks for the look, Pittsburgh – DEREK
