July 2023 in 31 Epic Images (the month in review)

But I trust in you, Lord;
    I say, “You are my God.”
 My times are in your hands…

Psalm 31:14-15
– author/photographer Derek Maul

This is always a difficult post to assemble. Even in a “normal” month it’s not hard to find a compelling photo story or two… or more.

But when Rebekah and I have been traveling – especially if it involves grandchildren – then the raw material is overwhelming.

So July! Here are the highlights, then the 31 photographs:

  • Driving through North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, and then Ohio for a visit with Uncle George before making our way to Michigan to see Andrew’s family.
  • Also driving a truck all that way, filled up with Andrew’s stuff (plus extra furniture) for their home in Midland.
  • Enjoying a week with Andrew, Alicia, and Mr. T (now almost 4).
  • Visiting Detroit and the Ford Museum of American Innovation.
  • Driving through Ohio and to Pittsburgh to see Tim and Kelly Black, along with their four children.
  • Two days enjoying Pittsburgh and the Blacks.
  • A beautiful couple of days exploring the New River Gorge in WVA on the way home.
  • So much to do back home in Wake Forest, making sure my mother is settled in her new place and beginning the long process of preparing her home for sale.
  • The invitation to drive to New Bern, where I photographed the gathering for the Presbytery of New Hope (so many wonderful images!)

So here it is, my choice for 31 pictures that tell (or at least try to tell) the story of July 2023. Enjoy! – DEREK
