“It’s a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don’t keep your feet, there’s no knowing where you might be swept off to.”
— Bilbo Baggins
My plan – moving forward now that we’ve been home a few days – is to quickly share the balance of my cruise photos (over five or six posts) before the whole experience is overtaken by everything new and interesting that makes life such a daily adventure!
This will be, essentially, my afternoon supplement: some lighter reading.
What I plan to cover should be:
- The ship itself (this post)
- Ports of call
- Dinning
- The sky and the sea
- Overview (the cruise in so many photographs
Today’s Post: the boat
I always enjoy saying “the boat.” I know it’s a ship, but it’s fun to tug the chain of the real sailors out there. This vessel – the MS Rotterdam – is the latest and most technologically advanced in the Holland America fleet.
Rotterdam is a Pinnacle class. At 99,950 gross tonage and 984 long, the ship houses 1,340 passenger cabins and 591 crew cabins. Of the 1,340 passenger cabins, 68% have a balcony. The ship has a maximum capacity of 4,173 passengers and crew.
Everything about the cruise was beyond excellent. The accommodations, the service, the food, the entertainment, the comfort, the weather, the balance between days at sea and excursions on shore.
Our 12-day voyage was the perfect way to completely relax in the wake of how demanding the past few years have been. Rebekah and I are so very grateful for the experience.
So enjoy the photographs, and tune in over the next few days for the best of the rest. My posts while we were traveling included zero of my Nikon images and only a few from my phone.
Additionally, some of the posts will include a representative video as well.
Peace, blessings, and many good adventures to come – DEREK

SO very glad you two had the time and resources to get away, relax, have time together, see a bit more of the world, decompress and create a whole bunch of smiling memories for yourselves. Thank you for sharing these photos so we can vicariously have a vacation of our own.
What a great cruise! So glad you two were able to get away and enjoy yourselves/
