– Monday evening on the boardwalk

Monday’s drive through Ohio was surprisingly relaxing and beautiful, bringing us to the lakeshore at Cedar Point in good time to settle in to our spacious accommodations at The Breakers Resort.

After dinner at the hotel the kids spent an hour playing at the pool before we all took a stroll down the boardwalk in the balmy evening breeze blowing off Lake Erie.

We watched some of the rides race against the setting sun and drank in the festive atmosphere of vacationers relaxed and having fun in the idyllic setting of water, sand, evening sunshine and the silhouettes of massive rollercoasters dominating the skyline like so many giant exoskeletons.

At the end of the boardwalk one particular ride sent constant screams of fear and delight (the riders were conflicted) into the night air. It’s the next video clip, titled “One ride I will absolutely not be doing tomorrow.”

One ride I will not be on tomorrow!

The Breakers is a traditional beachfront resort hotel that first opened in the first decade of the 20th Century and still retains some of the charm of the era.

If this was purely a travel blog then I would rate these accommodations using a variety of measures. But my focus is, ultimately, sharing the beauty and the inspiration I find in every day, and my gratitude for this good life….

… and of course these awesome grandchildren. But most of all living it in the company and the love and the beauty of Rebekah.

Peace – in every way – DEREK

First, a few more images; then, a video from the hotel….
