I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
your works are wonderful,
I know that full well.
My frame was not hidden from you
when I was made in the secret place,
when I was woven together in the depths of the earth.
Your eyes saw my unformed body;
all the days ordained for me were written in your book
before one of them came to be. – Psalm 139:14-16
The vacation photograph overwhelm kind of came to a head when we stayed at the shore in New Jersey. I took my Nikon down to the beach and there I was, telephoto in hand, while the children – especially Geoffrey – played in and around the edge of the water.
Watching a three-year-old play in the water is magical. The only real drawback is the fact that, being morning on the east coast, I was mostly shooting into the sun.
I caught a few of Beks and David, then Naomi snagged a couple of me with Geoffrey. There is even a portrait of Rebekah with Naomi, as well as one of Craig and Naomi with their three children; but mostly this collection is about our youngest grandchild. On my Nikon I have more than 50 like this, each a unique masterpiece of God’s good creation in fluid motion.
Geoffrey is a force of nature. He is three well on the way to four and to watch him “in the wild” is a complete joy. What I do not know and cannot imagine is where the energy comes from and how he can possibly go go go nonstop all day without any apparent slow down?!!
This is God’s perfect design on full display. “Fearfully and wonderfully made… your works are wonderful!”
If you are not smiling now, take a look through this gallery: I don’t see how any one of us can avoid it.
Peace – DEREK
