In Celebration of Beauty #PhotoFriday

– Outer Banks photograph by Derek Maul

This morning I am tempted to repeat Thursday’s day-off from writing (too busy and tired to post), but I am also conscious of how easy it is to lose momentum and lose touch – and I do not want to do that.

At least today I have my traditional “Photo-Friday” fallback option. So we will begin with the beach picture (above) I found cleaning out one of the closets this week. I took the photograph early one October morning on the Outer Banks and had a large print made. These are the sort of finds that remind me of how blessed we are to be living in the beautiful state of North Carolina.

– Naomi and David

Next, two wonderful images from Orlando: our daughter, Naomi, with 12-year-old David and then the whole family.

Then, one of the things I love about our Wake Forest cul-de-sac is all the space between the houses and the way everything seems to disappear into so many trees. The joke around here is that, with all the new building, Wake Forest should change its name to just “Wake,” or “Wake deForest.”

But here in our Tyler Run development it the authentic, traditional Wake Forest experience… saturated by the woods.

Finally (and you know I can’t resist a good food photo!), working as hard as we are, I am doing my best to make sure we have good food on hand. Like this mushroom cheeseburger with heirloom tomatoes.

I will save my final report on this week’s work for after the weekend… I really hope so. Good grief moving is not easy; not easy on the back and absolutely not easy on the heart.

In gratitude for all that we have – DEREK

  1. I’m just glad everything is OK; was concerned with no post Thursday. YES moving doesn’t get any easier as we age. Be gentle with yourself.
