Spectacular views and a hint of the promise of fall

Eventually, all things merge into one, and a river runs through it. – Norman Maclean

– St. James Street

Today’s photos come courtesy of early morning walks crossing the river. Again, and this is my constant promise, I do not plan to ever share the same picture twice. The sky, the time, the position of the sun according to the calendar, the level of the river, the clouds, the temperature, the relative temperatures of the air and the water, the season, the foliage… all these variables and more) combine to keep things interesting.

Then, walking past the church at the end of our walk one day, I noticed how the trees create a kind of tunnel around the sidewalk along St. James Street (and later on St. Patrick). I tried to capture the effect with my cell phone, knowing that the light would have already changed had I hurried home for my telephoto lens. Sometimes it is best to simply enjoy the moment… but I tried.

“Photo of the Week”

– working hard on the house

Lastly, this busy image of so much going on behind the house on St. Patrick. Demolition, carpentry, scraping, repair and more. Its kind of microcosm of both the challenge and the possibility.

So this is my short post for today. Happy Friday to all and I pray that you have an amazing weekend. Here in Tarboro we are enjoying just a hint of the end of summer and the promise of the beginnings of fall. It may be just a hint, but I will take it.

Peace and more peace – DEREK
