“More than we could ask or imagine”

Commit to the Lord whatever you do,
and he will establish your plans. – Proverbs 16:3

– at the house Friday

I have two conflicting ideas going around in my head today. The first is that Rebekah and I are confident that we are heading down the right path, and that this move to Tarboro is in every sense a “divine appointment.” Then, running concurrently, is my anxiety and my doubt; there is so much that needs to happen and it seems a little overwhelming at times.

This is why I am grateful for all the prayers and the affirmations you all have been launching in our direction. A little encouragement can go a long way!

To this end, having a successful Open House in Wake Forest today would be an amazing boost. The house is looking great, and one of the big positives we have going for us is that (with the rampant destruction of so much green space and clearcutting in new housing developments) our neighborhood offers the rare opportunity for an authentic Wake Forest experience.

The official listing blurb goes like this:

Don’t miss this beautiful property situated on a quiet cul-de-sac in desirable Tyler Run, where the serene wooded neighborhood represents the best Wake Forest has to offer. Enjoy a short walk to the park or downtown along with easy access to shopping and entertainment in this popular community. The 3 bedroom 2.5 bath home features a state of the art kitchen and appliances, recently renovated master bath, new roof and HVAC, tankless water heater and private back garden. With a single garage and easy access to two attics, storage is more than adequate. You won’t want to pass up this rare listing and your opportunity to enjoy an authentic downtown Wake Forest home.

At the Tarboro end of the equation things looks a little less pristine! But stuff is absolutely happening.

So this is my post for today. All prayers are both solicited and appreciated. At the same time, I am confident regarding the sentiments expressed in the Proverbs quote I started out with: “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.”

Because I honestly believe that, as has always been the case wherever Rebekah and I have lived and whatever we have been called into during this 45-year marriage, God purposes to use us here in Tarboro, and what God has in store is going to be “immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us” (Ephesians 3:20).

I believe this – DEREK
