“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:13
We may be enjoying our small town life but this week has been all about driving back and forth to Raleigh and Wake Forest.
All of our doctors and medical appointments are in The Triangle and (at least for now) it’s worth the drive to maintain continuity of care.
The really good news is that we are confident Rebekah’s ophthalmologist successfully completed the final element of her cataract odyssey. We recognize how blessed we are to have access to such state-of-the-art medical care, not just eyes but Wednesday’s endocrinology visit too.
Then, Thursday, I spent a few hours working in the garden at our Wake Forest home. With things finally drying out after all the rain everything looks more inviting. Maybe the right person will drive by this weekend, and recognize the unique opportunity to own a home in such an amazing location?
Meanwhile on Saint Patrick Street there is a lot happening. We are thankful the renovation team is taking time to deal with issues rather than rush through in a hurry. This week we have seen a lot of visual progress and that is always exciting.
Windows in Rebekah’s little room, siding where there had been rot, more primer on the front of the house, new – very solid – columns on the porch and removal of the odd awning that had obscured the architecture of the side entry.
All great to see.
Finally, my usual images reflecting the simple joy of walking this neighborhood (and Rebekah finding furniture along the way): the Tar River and the overgrown but beautiful sidewalks on Saint David Street.
For me, this Friday exercise is a discipline in perception, in paying attention. So I will quote Fred Rogers to round this out. “God’s revealing evidence is everywhere… we just have to receive it.”
Peace and blessings – DEREK
