Jesus said to the father, “Why did you say ‘if you can’? All things are possible for the one who believes.”
Immediately the father shouted, “I do believe. Help me to believe more!” – Mark 9:23-24
Meanwhile, back at the ongoing Saint Patrick Street project, Rebekah and I stopped by to take a look at what was happening on our way out of town. We found the carpenters from K’s Custom Cabinets busy installing our kitchen.
What a nice surprise. There has been major progress on all fronts for several weeks now, but seeing the kitchen begin to take shape is a huge plus.
This is a case of all things working together. There are so many details, and moving parts, and different trades coming and going, and “we can’t do this before we do that” contingencies at play that it is hard to get a sense of where things are. So good visuals like cabinets, and siding, and paint etc, come in handy when we need a boost.
Imagination and vision and belief:
My amazing wife Rebekah is a person of wonderful imagination and clear vision – so she has been able to see the house in its “habitable” state from the get-go. I on the other hand want to believe and try to have confidence, but for a long time all I could see was the holes and the rot and the unbelievable amount of work… But now, especially over the last couple of weeks, I too can see.
Anything is possible. Especially when something has such great bones to begin with.
A restoration mindset is a good way to move forward in a world in need of repair. In the world of broken down homes, in the world of people who face seemingly insurmountable odds, in the throes of any kind of a crisis, when a storm comes from nowhere to deliver devastating loss, after an election where people experience crushing defeat and if you think everything around you is crumbling.
A restoration mindset is a good way to move forward in a world in need of repair…
Some folk have imagination and clear vision like Rebekah. Others are more like me, wanting to believe but struggling sometimes to understand what is possible.
But “Anything is possible.” You may want to write that down.
And, “All things are possible for the one who believes.”
Jesus said that. Sometimes I even believe it – DEREK
