He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end… – Ecclesiastes 3:11a
Sunday afternoon, just before dark, I looked outside and noticed the magical quality of the light. So I grabbed my camera and took a short stroll around the neighborhood to see what I could see.
We have not had an exceptionally colorful fall this year, but I was able to use the warm golden tones of the late afternoon light, illuminating everything from the grass to the leaves to the very bark of the trees.
I walked up Saint David Street till it runs into the Town Common, then across to Saint Andrew, down as far as Church Street, over to Saint Patrick and then along Saint James Street and home.
I particularly appreciate the way the low angle of the sun throws gentle light on the trees, picking out the grain, the texture, the depth and the definition.
Church spires
Then I noticed how the light from the east picks out the detail on the spires of our downtown churches. Baptist, Episcopalian, Methodist, Presbyterian.
God has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end. – Ecclesiastes 3:11b
So scroll through these images from our neighborhood and take pause to be thankful for the amazing beauty of this world and the imagination of the Creator.
