Here is a brief look at our immediate surroundings here in the Old Town. Our Airbnb is a very teeny studio apartment in an elegant old building with an enclosed central courtyard.

From the front door it’s just a short walk to the riverfront – the Vistula, and all kinds of historic buildings (the Vistula runs east and then north, through Warsaw and on into the Baltic Sea near Gdansk).

My morning hike today took me past some kind of a castle and a monastery. Today we plan to walk all through the city to get oriented and visit one of the Christmas markets in the massive central square.
