The latest on both houses (file this under “cautiously optimistic”)

– the home on Saint Patrick Street

Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. – Philippians 4:6

– Saint Patrick floors coming up nicely

Checking back through my recent posts I see it has been a full month (December 11, “House Status Update“) since I posted anything on the progress of our house… both houses. So I guess it is about time.

I also wanted to wait for a few things to happen before mentioning it again. Christmas, of course, slowed things down but there have been some significant developments from Aaron’s team. First, the process of sanding and staining the floors has started. Then, Keith the electrician has been very busy and made a ton of progress. Additionally, carpenter (and “great-at-everything-guy”) Eddie is always hard at work.

Giddy with excitement?

– John with the latest!

Even more noteworthy, over in Wake Forest, we are once again under contract with a sale pending on our house. I am trying my best to be giddy with excitement but I’m afraid it’s a “once bitten…” situation so I’m stuck on “cautiously optimistic.”

Our realtor (and great friend) John, has been working extra hard to make things happen, and we believe this time there is no reason we will not go to closing as scheduled. We have been doing a lot of extra work, from painting to electrical to insulation to a variety of minor repairs.

As a result, the Tyler Run house has never looked better and probably never been better. It is a wonderful opportunity for a young family to live in a beautiful home on a quiet cul-de-sac just a short walk from both the park and the town center. I believe it’s not only the best option available in Wake Forest but a solid investment, and they will be very happy there. (Click here if you haven’t seen how it looks).

So we are looking at the possibility of everything coming together by the middle of February.

But of course, as the scriptures say, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”

Good grief this has been a long process! But we are thankful, in every way and with probably more patience that we can reasonably account for. I guess that is grace for you….

Looking forward to sharing the finished product! – DEREK
