Every morning is a revolution against the darkness.
– Mehmet Murat Ildan
This is a fairly typical spread of images for Photo-Friday. The back of our almost house, walking the neighborhood, my all-world spaghetti, and another set of can’t-miss pics featuring our Tar River.
Thursday was one of those days when I did not expect any early morning photographs. I knew the river was in flood so I almost walked a different route. But this was a sunrise absolutely worth heading that way for a second look.
Then, everywhere we walk here in the historic district, there is a sense of spring in the air. Daffodils running riot, birds singing their hearts out, grass greening, trees beginning to bud.
The house on Saint Patrick Street is ready for us to wrap up the details, and I can’t wait to report that we have finally closed. Everything looks wonderful, still obviously old but very much restored and secured and brought from its 19th Century roots and into the 21st.
There is so much promise and hope in these photographs. Remember that, especially when the abject insanity of today’s world leaves you overwhelmed and disheartened. I like the way the opening quote put it – “Every morning is a revolution against the darkness” – and, I might add, a statement of faith in goodness and light.
Amen and amen – DEREK
(I added two more pics this morning, to show how fast the river is still rising)
