Springtime and Celebration in Tarboro’s Historic District

This week’s Photo-Friday collection tells the story of the emerging springtime here in Eastern North Carolina.

We have Dogwood, Azalea, redbuds, daffodils and all kinds of color budding out around the historic district. It’s been extra warm and we have seen barely a drop of rain. But the world seems to be alive with color and promise and a million new leaves just about every day.

I guess it reflects my mood. Very excited about this new adventure; deeply thankful for this beautiful new home; tired and a little overwhelmed from the seemingly never ending move; bursting with promise and possibility as we move into the Fourth Quarter of our lives.

The first two pictures are from last Saturday evening at the big party for Bill and Amy Goode (masterfully organized by their daughter Hillary). We are so fortunate to have the Tarboro Brewing Company as a downtown venue and it was packed with church and community friends, there to pay tribute to Tarboro’s hands-down best photographer for the past several decades.

Then, four unique views of Howard Memorial Presbyterian Church. Late afternoon sunshine looking from the house we have been renting on East Saint James Street, then the view from our new home on Saint Patrick and finally a nighttime shot of unbelievable clarity.

The final three photographs feature, A) One of several historic district homes just begging for a renovation, B) springtime blooming at the corner of Saint Patrick and Wilson, and C) Rebekah taking a well-deserved breather as we unpack at the new house.

So, happy Friday to all of my readers. Enjoy the beauty and the promise of springtime, and enjoy the grace and possibility inherent in every new moment we are given.

Peace and every blessing – DEREK
