Some Assembly Required (Max, furniture, spring and the move) #PhotoFriday

– Howard Memorial after the lecture Wednesday

First, I believe I need some kind of award for keeping my cool while assembling furniture! This time it was a TV-stand/media center. Rebekah ordered it and I believe she specified the following in her key search terms:

  • Must be the heaviest box of wood ever delivered and almost impossible even for two people to drag into the house.
  • Must have complex instructions written in gibberish.
  • Must have illustrations drawn by a 4-year-old.
  • Must always fail to specify ideas such as “front” and “left” and “up.” These details should only become apparent at the final stages, so that everything has to be taken apart and reassembled.
  • Must have doors that can only be hung by a person with three hands – or an octopus.
“Man versus self-assembling”!

So this one took from just after lunch until almost ten in the evening! But it is done. Check another key item off the list.

The week in general was partially satisfying in that we are now tantalizingly close to being out of the house we have been renting. And also frustrating because we have no idea where everything is going to fit into the new place.

Oh, but we know where Max is going to fit! And that is everywhere. Max is resolutely following us around, keeping his eye on us, and getting more and more comfortable in the new surroundings.

So photo-Friday this week has a lot of move detail and a lot of Max. Plus the requisite shots from the increasingly beautiful spring here in the historic district.

The move is still a “breaking story” – and that goes for my back too!

Peace and more peace, and enjoy a most wonderful weekend – DEREK
