“Arise, shine, for your light has come,
and the glory of the Lord rises upon you…“Lift up your eyes and look about you…
Then you will look and be radiant,
your heart will throb and swell with joy…” – Psalm 60:1,4,5
It’s been a while since I last walked down by the river. First, Rebekah and I have been crazy busy; then, the mosquito population has evidently made plans for an early summer and the river is one of their favorite spots.
But this morning it was 54-degrees with a slight breeze, so Max and I first hiked across the bridge then made our way through Riverfront Park.
I guess this is really an extension of yesterday’s post, “The Gift of Wonder.” I may not be an artist in the sense that I could paint such a scene, but I am an artist in that I recognize creative genius when I see it.
I have a friend who sometimes says, “I wish I was lucky enough to see the amazing sunrises you photograph.” Well that makes me think of “I wish I had a faith like yours.” There is a huge difference between my experience of the dawn and somebody else’s. All I can do is to tell the story. Your opportunity is to wake up, get up, get ready and open your eyes.
That might actually be a good outline for how to engage every day in terms of what is possible:
- Wake up
- Get up
- Get ready
- Open your eyes
Or, as Rebekah sometimes says, “That will preach!”
