Warm Hearts, “Immeasurably more” and a few Random Photos #Tarboro

– Rebekah’s last HMPC Sunday as interim

First, I want to quote something one of our church friends said that touched our hearts deeply (the comment was in response to my “Rebekah’s last day at work” post):

“Your blog choked both of us up this morning – so beautiful. What a blessing you both have been to all of us. [We] feel like it would have been impossible to say goodbye if you’d moved out of town! So glad you’re making this home.” (name withheld for privacy)

For our part, Rebekah and I are bowled over by that kind of sentiment. All we can say is that we came here with open hearts, knowing that we were going to love the church and the community regardless. We were not about to consider any other outcome, we never do.

It just turned out to be easier to feel at home here than we ever could have asked or imagined.

The late evening sky – which is always a challenge to photograph – makes the perfect backdrop for the historic downtown here in Tarboro. There is a sense of gravitas about these pictures that shows the town in its true light. Not just any county seat in a rural North Carolina backwater, but Tarboro. You know, The Crossroads of Western Civilization…
