There is not one blade of grass, there is no color in this world that is not intended to make us rejoice.

John Calvin

The beauty of having something happen in slow motion is being able to take note of the big milestones when they finally do come along and celebrate accordingly.

For our landscaping project, then, yesterday’s introduction of grass was as dramatic a moment as the day the floors were refinished inside the house.

Now the other plants and shrubs can be installed, along with the mulch, and all that remains will be paving the driveway and fine-tuning the details.

We knew the stone retaining walls were a great choice, but now we have grass we can see exactly how well the materials work together.

When everything is complete I will post all the photographs in one place. But for now, this is a great moment and we are thrilled.

This part of our ongoing project is street-facing and very public. So it is our declaration of faith that this block, this street, this historic district is worth the investment of our best efforts.

Not just our best efforts, but yours too – DEREK
