In their hearts humans plan their course,

but the Lord establishes their steps.
Thursday was an all-day driving day, as I made my way down I-95 and into Florida to re-home Rebekah’s trusty 2012 Toyota Rav-4.
The trip serves as a good reminder of how beautifully the little SUV still drives. Just 103,000 miles on the clock, new tires and battery, thoroughly checked over for potential issues and a long history of having every recommended service done.
We purchased the car new in January of 2013, so it has been chugging along faithfully for almost 14 years which is, I believe, a record for Maul family vehicles.
The last thing I did, after having the vehicle serviced, was to take out all the accumulated trash, wash it thoroughly, vacuum the insides and clean every detail possible. Interestingly, with the way the used car market has been evolving, it is worth more now than it was five years ago!
Yes it drives beautifully, but I did miss the following from my Subaru: automatic speed control, navigation front and center on the huge monitor, blind-spot warning lights, Apple car-play along with my podcasts, the back-up camera – and more. It turns out that the tech has grown on me.
The most challenging part of the long drive – especially when I am by myself – is the eating. The last thing I need during an exercise-free day is a chicken sandwich for lunch and a hamburger – plus onion-rings – for supper. But that of course is exactly what I ate!
So I checked in at the Jesse and Heather Alexander family B&B in Jacksonville and it’s off to Orlando in the morning to complete the delivery.
More details in my next post, but this Central Florida trip is built around more than a car exchange and there should be some great stories coming up.
Peace, always, wherever your journey takes you. As for me, it’s more of I-95 and then I-4 into Orlando – DEREK
