Simply put, it’s impossible to know everyone in this church as well as we’d like to – but we’re willing to give it a try, and the intimacy of a shared meal is one of the best ways we know to invest ourselves in these beautiful lives.
God’s arms open wide; the Creator’s generous heart receptive to everyone who walks through the doors; the faith community speaking God’s “Yes” with a distinct clarity into a world where affirmation is sometimes scarce; the invitation of Jesus in all its simplicity and power: come, everyone who is carrying any kind of a burden.
Jesus was as clear about this as he was about anything: “The world is going to be convinced of the truth about me – my life, my words, my invitation to know God – only to the extent that you all (y’all – the church) demonstrate authentic love – in effect modeling this love as a vibrant community, an invitation, a living testimony to grace” (John 13 – author paraphrase).
