give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. (1 Thessalonians 5:18)
This morning’s word is, quite simply, “gratitude.”
Long story short: Yesterday, the final piece of the complex puzzle that is home-buying and selling fell into place. I’ll give more details in a post where I have enough time to write it all out, but suffice it to say that we are now 100% confident that we can move directly into our new home when we leave Brandon in August.
I was talking about this yesterday, about the wonder of selling a house in less than a day, and then the amazing coming together of a few more details over the past 24-hours, when I stopped short to say the following: “Wonderful as this is, I don’t want to fall into the whole ‘God’s favor’ trap, or the ‘prosperity gospel’ nonsense. I know enough stories of good people, following Jesus, who experienced no end of difficulty, often taking years to sell a house, having details go awry all the time; I’m not about to claim special treatment or divine favor on this; we’re just going to be grateful.”
So there it is, in a nutshell: today we’re simply grateful.
And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father. (Colossians 3:17)

Selling a house in a day and being able to move directly into a home in North Carolina surely is Divine Providence. I’m still not happy about your move, but it’s God’s call, not mine! So this is a bright spot for you and Rebekah.
Another piece of news for you. I couldn’t bring a cell phone onto the compound at Polk CI (for more than justifiable reasons of security) and also since Carol made two round trips to get me to and from work every day, I couldn’t justify a cell phone. Well, I’ve finally gotten one and I want to call you to talk with you. When might be a good time of day especially now in your very busy times? Please respond back. This will be a way we might be able to keep in touch.
