Here are just a few photos of Rebekah and me from Harper’s Ferry Tuesday morning. Wow, what a hot, hot day. But also what a spectacular location, and what an amazingly interesting historical site! That John Brown was certainly a most bizarre character!
The pictures are, in order:
- Rebekah looking at the amazing view from “Jefferson’s Rock,” where the celebrated patriot said the vista was “worth a trip across the ocean to witness.”
- Me, reliving a moment from my 1976 trek on the Appalachian Trail (I walked the length of Virginia, plus some), wondering should I head north, or south?
- Walking the railroad track at Harper’s Ferry
- Rebekah, trying out for the historical reenactment role of John Brown. Not a bad impersonation, huh?
– Enjoy. Maybe I’ll have time to write some more tomorrow – DEREK

Derek,
I thoroughly enjoy your blogs and have shared your thoughts with many. At Harper’s Ferry, you are obviously headed south again, and not too far from Roanoke, where we live, or from Wake Forest PC where our daughter’s family is active worshipers. They , and my wife and I, enthusiastically wait for your arrival there.
Blessings to you in your safe journey home, and as you prepare for your move to NC
Thanks, Richard!
We, too are excited about the move and the opportunity to encourage the folk at WFPC. I trust that we will get to meet you soon.
Peace and blessings – DEREK
