I look up to the mountains—
does my help come from there?
My help comes from the Lord,
who made heaven and earth! – Psalm 121
Friday, having enjoyed some invigorating hiking earlier in the week, Rebekah and I decided to dedicate a few hours to “motoring” the Blue Ridge Parkway.
“Golf” – the fun Euro-car Andrew sent to me when he and Alicia left Italy – was more than pleased with the experience, and most especially the drive back on the isolated, winding, (I didn’t see any speed limit signs…), NC-221 from the Virginia border. The little TDi, not yet gelded by the looming “fix” from the EPA, performed admirably.
Mostly, the day was about riding together with Rebekah, watching the beauty roll on by, hopping out at almost every overlook, taking short strolls, drinking in the fresh 50-something air, holding hands, and being replenished by the great gift of this good earth – especially as God has prepared it for our enjoyment, here in the North Carolina mountains.
So I’m sharing, for your enjoyment, a few more stunning images – all from Friday’s drive – some of the wonder and the joy from one more day together in the Appalachian Mountains. I’ve got to say, nothing is ever quite so good as when you are experiencing it together with the one you love and enjoy with every fiber of your being…
Peace and blessings – DEREK
