Today – October 16, 2018 – our grandson David is seven. This is the blog entry I posted in 2011, the day after he was born. It’s about life… and death too, and it makes a timely read today – DEREK

That new baby post (Sunday) was certainly good for a couple of days. Nice, huh? I could probably get by with just pasting in new baby pictures for the rest of the week! But my commitment to this blog – and my readers – has always been for an ongoing conversation about the Life-Charged Life. Today is a new day, and God’s promises are new every morning too.
The picture of the sky was taken at dusk Sunday evening. It made me think of the light and the life that came into the world just a few hours earlier with the debut of our grandson, David Henry.
However, the location where I took the picture was outside the home of my friend John, who passed away earlier in the day. And so the gathering darkness also serves to remind me…

Before becoming a full-time writer, Derek taught public school in Florida for eighteen years, including cutting-edge work with autistic children. He holds bachelor’s degrees in psychology and education from Stetson University and the University of West Florida.
Derek is active in teaching at his church: adult Sunday school, and a men’s Bible study/spiritual formation group. He enjoys the outdoors, traveling, photography, reading, cooking, playing guitar, and golf.
