Okay, sorry not sorry for the cynical headline. But don’t worry, there is actually a positive here for the whole country if only we begin to shift our thinking.
I think it’s more a case of two having “fallen and I can’t get up” – both Republicans and Democrats. We could flail around for who knows how long, trying to get upright by ourselves, but what we really need is each other. Simply put, we can help each other up! And that will be good for the whole country.
Two are better than one,
because they have a good return for their labor:
If either of them falls down,
one can help the other up.
But pity anyone who falls
and has no one to help them up. – Ecclesiastes 4:9-10
I honestly believe this 50-50 battle (and all the tight margins) is a way America is telling itself that we absolutely need to work together at this point.
So let’s stop listening to those trying to promote division, stir up distrust, and exacerbate disunity in this country!
There is no clear mandate!
There is no mandate. If Joe Biden wins, the Democrats don’t have a mandate; if Donald Trump wins, the Republicans don’t have one either.
We have to help each other up. We have to recognize how much our pet agendas need the input of the other party’s ideas and values.
I have said this before, but it is so important I’m saying it again. This nation was built on compromise. Compromise means recognizing how much we need one another and valuing points of view we don’t come to easily.
Compromise means recognizing how much we need one another…
Compromise requires humility. Humility is the only way forward for this nation.
Otherwise we’re still rolling around on the ground, stuck, pressing that “help” button. When all the time our help turns out to be right there – help is our brothers and sisters who need us too.
We can get up. But we must help each other – DEREK
I totally agree. Something I have found rather interesting is a few things I’ve been sharing on my Facebook about my side of view and then I was able to have a friendly debate with friends who view differently. It is rather intriguing. However, it is also sad to think that a good proper debate has really become ancient history to most Americans because they feel they need to win someone over instead of coming to a compromise and understanding the other person’s side will still being able to disagree.
