Testimony of “A Happy Man”
Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity… – Ephesians 5:15-16
I am a blessed man, and in so many beautiful ways. But for this post I’m just going to talk about my birthday. I need to share before it all gets too far in the rearview mirror.
After more than a year of Covid-induced separation, my absolute best gift has to be spending this weekend with our Miami family; Naomi, Craig, David, Beks, and now baby Geoffrey.
Naomi took over paparazzi duty, so every photo but one is hers. I really appreciate her artist’s eye for framing, her photographer’s sense of light and timing, and her writer’s instinct for story.
Naomi and Craig prepared dinner together, featuring homemade pizza and chocolate cupcakes.
My first day as a newly minted 65-year old has reminded me – once again – that life is full, and rich, and stuffed with so much goodness and love.
I am, as my brother Geoff often described himself, “A happy man.”
For this gift and so many innumerable blessings, I am beyond grateful – DEREK
