A deep, cleansing breath for the New Year

Jesus said – “Come to me, all you who are struggling hard and carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest. Put on my yoke, and learn from me. I’m gentle and humble. And you will find rest for yourselves. My yoke is easy to bear, and my burden is light.”

Matthew 11:28-30

If just one photograph can represent the past three days, then this is it. The short story goes like this: 1) Rebekah and I got away for two nights, celebrating the New Year in Jacksonville with her brothers Jesse and Joe and their families. 2) I got to take a long deep breath. 3) We came home.

For me, this was the best way to begin whatever 2022 has in store. So I am grateful.

Getting to drive the car – Jesse and Heather’s vintage Miata – says it all. Tune in to this space for more on our adventures over the next few days. For now, it’s Sunday morning and we are headed to worship. It is the right place, especially if you are “struggling hard and carrying heavy loads…”

Love, peace, and blessings – Derek
