Like birds flying about,
Isaiah 31:5
So will the Lord of hosts defend Jerusalem.
Defending, He will also deliver it;
Passing over, He will preserve it.”
When we first planned our trip to Pensacola with the children, we knew we wanted them to see the Naval Aviation Museum. It’s probably the best of its kind anywhere and the collection has continued to grow since we moved away in 1996. What we didn’t know was that the Blue Angels flight demonstration team would be performing right there, on the airfield behind the museum, and we could take David and Beks to see that too!
Other than the crowd shots, the first few photos in the selection below feature “Fat Albert”, the lumbering prop aircraft that accompanies the Blues. After that, I have a feast of air acrobatics for you.
Play particular attention to the planes flying close (too close!), one upside down! And then the “chicken” near-miss head-on maneuver (on a short video, too).
First Woman Team Member!
Also, remember that “#3” is the first ever woman named to the Blue Angel demonstration team. Navy Lieutenant Amanda Lee has the honor, and she is an inspiration to young women the world over.
Last week I posted a short review (“Blue Angels Plus Grandchildren…”, relying on my iPhone camera. I promised even better photographs from the Nikon z50 just as soon as I had a chance to sort through them. Today is that day!
Scroll through the photos!
I will include a couple of short videos at the end, but this post is all about the “still” (a funny word to use in relation to F/A-18E Super Hornets!!) photographs.
Enjoy; and while you do, give a moment to being thankful for the epic work done by our armed forces to secure the peace in this conflicted world.
Peace, and more peace – DEREK

Thanks for sharing Derek! Their demonstration is fantastic! Kudos to the first woman pilot in the group.
