My people will live in peaceful dwelling places,
Isaiah 32:18
in secure homes,
in undisturbed places of rest.
Some of you may remember my initial enthusiasm, last summer, when Rebekah and I rented our first airbnb in North Carolina’s Maggie Valley. It was a good house, a wonderful location, a fair deal, and an all-around success.
In October we kept the good vibe going in the South of England, where we found excellent accommodations close to the English Channel in Camber Sands. We were two for two and looking forward to our next experience.
Could it be three in a row?
So, with Pensacola and the grandchildren on our minds, we looked for something close to our old neighborhood, and ended up with this gem of a home right on Bayou Boulevard.
What’s not to like about a classic century-old two-story craftsmen, featuring a wrap around porch and as much character as anyone could hope for?
The house offers lots of room, is beautifully furnished, and comes with a more than adequate kitchen. The hosts were extremely helpful, and the entire process of booking and access was complication-free.
The children were excited about everything, especially having the upstairs to themselves. We had a very difficult 750-piece puzzle going on the coffee table all week (completed our last evening), and the home was the perfect place to unwind at any time of the day.

We enjoyed breakfast every day on the porch, then shared dinners in the formal dining room.
Additionally, the neighborhood – as you can see from the photographs – was exceptionally nice. I was able to walk down to the boat ramp every morning, or under the Live Oak canopy on Bayou Boulevard, then sit quietly on the screened porch with the first cup of coffee before preparing breakfast.
So, five stars out of five for this beautiful Pensacola home! You can put me on the airbnb ads if you like, so far I have nothing but love.
Enjoy the photographic tour of the house and the neighborhood. I have added one extra video right after the gallery. Gratefully – DEREK
