Then you will go on your way in safety,
Proverbs 3:23
and your foot will not stumble.
Here it is, July 1 already and the second half of 2023! Rebekah and I are heading to Ohio, Michigan, and Pennsylvania for a couple of weeks away.
Job One is driving a truckload of household stuff to Andrew, Alicia and Mr. T’s home base in Midland, Michigan. They are still living the International Teacher life, currently in Bahrain after two years in Italy, three in Uzbekistan, then three in Germany. But they have decided to anchor their USA base with an actual home.
Consequently all the stuff that’s been collecting dust in our attic is now stuffed into this Penske van, along with a few additional family heirlooms.
It turns out that my ability to haul heavy items has been somewhat compromised over the past ten years! The van is loaded, yes, but I am a very creaky 67-year old.
I am, however, looking forward to the next couple of days driving, sitting a little higher off the road than my usual spot behind the wheel of my compact VW Golf. Plus this Penske rental is nothing like the bone-shaker I picked up from U-Haul the last time I had to move a bunch of furniture.
So keep your eye on this blog space, look out for some interesting photographs, and check in on our adventures over the next couple of weeks.
Today we plan to spend the night (Saturday) in Columbus Ohio before meeting Rebekah’s uncle George for church in Delaware.
Peace and love, always – DEREK

Be safe!!!!
